Mann Research & Development – Kentucky, USA

Mann Research and Development, led by Douglass Mann, is entering two vehicles into the Automotive X PRIZE. The Alternative Class vehicle will be a redesigned 1993 Geo Metro, able to hold two people. This vehicle has already been completed. Their entrant into the Mainstream Class will be able to hold four passengers. Their strategy for fuel efficiency is to improve the internal combustion engine, rather than creating entirely new technology. Among other improvements, they are increasing the efficiency of the crankshaft system, by what they hope will be around 200%.
